Therapeutic approach

Drama & Movement Therapy is one of the Arts Psychotherapies regulated by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).

People seek therapy for many different reasons. Some of the more common reasons are: anxiety, depression, existential questions, low mood, family issues, infertility, life changes, low self-confidence, relationship problems, stress, work-related stress, trauma.

I am non-judgemental, compassionate and adaptable. I tailor my approach to best suit the needs of each individual client. Some people prefer to only talk and some wish to be creative.

People can find using creative methods help to reflect on their experiences and relationships, to process their thoughts and feelings, which then supports change. We might use art, clay, writing, storytelling, movement (this list isn’t exhaustive!)

I work with adults, adolescents and children from my therapy room in Norwich city centre. I can also visit schools and organisations.

Get in touch to organise a free introductory call.

I also offer Online Therapy and can provide a combination of in person and online sessions if you travel for work or are away at university, for example.

As well as working from my Norwich therapy room, I offer Walk & Talk Therapy. Some people prefer Walk & Talk to traditional therapy spaces, as it offers the client and therapist to connect side by side, rather than eye to eye, and share an experience in walking in nature. I have walking routes in Norwich and Norfolk which I have carefully selected and risk assessed. If you are interested and have somewhere in mind, please get in touch with me so we can discuss it. Norfolk has beautiful, enchanting and peaceful spaces to explore.

Please note: I only work with adults and adolescents for online and Walk & Talk therapy.

FAQs

How often will we meet?

I recommend weekly sessions as the continuity is important to the process and the therapeutic relationship. We can move to fortnightly sessions, if appropriate, after we have established a therapeutic relationship.

How do I start?

The first step is to get in touch with me. We will arrange a free introductory video call which will last 10-20 mins, where we will discuss your enquiry in more detail and I will try to answer any questions you might have. We may then plan some initial sessions, or, if you or I feel we are not the right fit, I will try to help you find someone who is.

Will you give me advice?

I will listen and ask questions, and support you to make decisions, but I will not tell you what to do. This can feel difficult to begin with, however I feel it’s important for lasting change that you make the decisions and explore the thinking process with me, rather than just following my advice.

Where do we meet?

My therapy room is in Norwich city centre. The space is quiet and calm. There is a waiting room and toilet in the building. Unfortunately it isn’t wheelchair accessible and my room is downstairs.

For Walk & Talk sessions, we will agree a place when planning and we will both sign the risk assessment for that area. Some spaces have public toilets and cafes nearby. Please let me know when planning if you would require any facilities.

Please get in touch with me with any questions about accessibility and space.

Can we meet in person and online?

Yes! If you travel with work, live away at university, or have a hectic schedule we can organise a mix of in person and online sessions.
